Despite a few rain showers rolling through the park, the spirit of liberation and joy was unstoppable at this year’s Dance Is Life: Juneteenth celebration held at Bethesda Fountain in Central Park.
Even arriving a little late, you could still feel the energy pulsing through the crowd. The plaza was alive with dancers of all backgrounds, soaked and smiling, moving as if the rain was just another beat in the music. From spontaneous dance duets to all-out circle jams, they were fully alive in the moment.
Colorful fashion, rain-soaked selfies, and surprise performances made the evening unforgettable. Whether dancing solo, linking arms with a friend, or joining the crowd in collective rhythm, everyone brought something to the dance floor. And even as the skies opened up, the party never slowed—because Dance Is Life, and life doesn’t wait for perfect weather.
Follow the joy. Follow the rhythm. Follow the people.
