Roe v Wade Overturned Protest 2022

On June 24th, 2022, thousands of activists and concerned citizens gathered in Washington Square Park to protest the recent overturning of Roe v. Wade, a landmark Supreme Court decision that granted women the right to safe and legal abortion. The atmosphere was charged with emotion and passion as people of all genders, ages, and backgrounds came together to demand reproductive justice and bodily autonomy for all.

The protesters carried signs, chanted slogans, and wore clothing and accessories emblazoned with messages of support for reproductive rights. Many of them marched in a somber procession from Washington Square Park to Foley Square, the site of many historic protests and rallies in NYC. Along the way, they stopped traffic, caught the attention of onlookers, and drew media coverage from local and national outlets.

At Foley Square, the protesters held a rally and heard from a variety of speakers, including reproductive health advocates, medical professionals, and politicians. They shared personal stories of how access to abortion had impacted their lives or the lives of people they knew, and underscored the importance of ensuring that everyone has the freedom to make their own choices about their bodies and futures.

Overall, the Roe v. Wade Overturned Protest was a powerful demonstration of solidarity and resistance against the erosion of reproductive rights in the United States. By showing up and speaking out, the participants sent a clear message to lawmakers and society at large that they will not stand idly by as their fundamental rights are threatened
