On June 19th 2022, Brooklyn’s Prospect Park was alive with the sounds of music, speeches, and revelry as people from all over came together to celebrate the 13th Annual Juneteenth Celebration at the Nethermead. This year’s event featured a lineup of talented headliners, including Iniko and Renée Neufville, as well as a fashion show and performance by Poison Ivy Music, Jubilee, Zeyi, and Carla Gibson. The guest speakers, Double Love Experience, Andrew Wilkes, and Gabby Cudjoe Wilkes, shared powerful messages of hope and inspiration.
As the event kicked off, attendees were greeted by the lively and upbeat hosts, Eva Evans and Michael-Malik, who kept the energy high throughout the day. The Nethermead was transformed into a colorful and vibrant hub of celebration, with families and friends gathered to enjoy the festivities. The music, dancing, and performances were enjoyed by people of all ages and backgrounds, coming together to honor the history and culture of the Juneteenth holiday.
The 13th Annual Juneteenth Celebration in Prospect Park was not just a day of fun and entertainment, but a powerful and poignant reminder of the history of slavery in the United States, and the ongoing struggle for racial justice and equality. This celebration served as an opportunity to learn about and honor the achievements of African Americans, and to recognize the contributions of Black culture to American society as a whole. It was a day of unity, community, and empowerment, and a testament to the resilience and strength of the human spirit.
