Fifth Avenue Blooms with Creativity at the NYC Easter Parade 2025

The NYC Easter Parade returned in full technicolor on Sunday, April 20, 2025, transforming Fifth Avenue into a whimsical wonderland of extravagant hats, vibrant costumes, and springtime joy. From St. Patrick’s Cathedral up through Midtown, paradegoers and participants celebrated tradition, creativity, and community with flair.

The annual parade, a New York institution dating back to the 1870s, has evolved into one of the city’s most beloved informal festivals—no floats or marching bands, just people showing up in their most festive and often outrageous attire. This year’s unofficial theme seemed to be “Easter Elegance Meets Avant-Garde Fantasy,” with participants donning flower crowns made of live orchids, hats shaped like tiered cakes, and even full floral gowns made of tulle and sequins.

From feathered fascinators and bunny bonnets to eco-political statements and rainbow-colored couture, every kind of creative expression was on display. One standout included a towering sculpture of asparagus rising from a green-painted crown labeled “Fresh Erect,” worn proudly by @jandrewarts. Others sported hats shaped like books, sushi rolls, and a “B’s in Liberty’s Bonnet” Statue of Liberty-inspired headpiece critiquing capitalism.

The event was as much a runway as a rallying point, with messages ranging from playful to political. The collective @happyeverything_art stood out with towering pastel headpieces and “Make Easter Queer Again” signs, bringing both color and commentary to the parade. Drag queens, fashion designers, cosplayers, and families all mingled freely in front of St. Pat’s, celebrating individuality and springtime renewal.

Photographers and tourists lined the streets to capture each look. Our own lens documented over 80 unique portraits that highlight not only the artistry but also the spirit of joy, inclusion, and reinvention that define New York’s cultural identity.

The NYC Easter Parade remains an open invitation to reimagine tradition, where every year brings a fresh bloom of boldness. Whether dressed in haute couture or hot glue gun creations, participants once again proved: in New York City, Easter isn’t just about eggs—it’s about expression.
