In a dramatic display of dissent, protesters took to the streets of New York City on Saturday, marching from Broadway-Lafayette St to Lexington Av/63 St. Chanting slogans and brandishing signs, the protesters made their voices heard.

But the demonstration took a more dangerous turn when the group entered the Lexington subway station, where they obstructed both the F and Q trains. Eyewitnesses reported that protesters held the doors of the F train and stood on the tracks, preventing any trains from moving through the station. As tensions escalated, the NYPD moved in to make arrests.

Photographer Richard Scalzo was on hand to capture the chaotic scene, which saw police clearing the station and engaging in a standoff with the remaining protesters on the street outside. Despite the efforts of law enforcement, more arrests were made as the demonstration continued.
