DanceFest NYC 2025 May 17th, Tompkins Square Park

The heart of the East Village pulsed with music, movement, and joy on May 17th as DanceFest NYC 2025 brought the 19th annual Dance Parade New York to a thrilling close at Tompkins Square Park. Thousands of performers and dance lovers gathered to celebrate the city’s most electrifying and diverse dance festival, turning the park into a vibrant stage of global expression.

Presented by Dance Parade New York and supported by countless volunteers and community organizations, the free festival transformed the park into a living mosaic of rhythm and artistry. Five performance stages, open dance circles, teaching tents, and an abundance of cultural performances welcomed attendees of all ages and backgrounds.

More than just a festival, DanceFest was a celebration of freedom, identity, and inclusion. With every spin, stomp, and sway, dancers shared stories rooted in tradition, rebellion, and joy. From the intricate formations of Polynesian and Thai classical dances to the explosive energy of hip hop crews, the festival showcased more than 100 unique dance styles from around the world.

Volunteers and staff in bright red “Freedom to Dance” shirts welcomed guests, guided performers, and ensured that the spirit of joy and inclusion remained at the heart of every moment.
