Thousands Rally in NYC for Trans Day of Visibility 2025

New York City, NY – On Sunday, March 31st, thousands of people filled the streets of Manhattan for the annual Trans Day of Visibility March, a powerful demonstration celebrating transgender lives and demanding protections amid a wave of anti-trans legislation across the U.S.

The march, organized by NYC Youth 4 Trans Rights and supported by numerous local advocacy groups, began at Union Square and traveled down to Washington Square Park, where speakers, performers, and families gathered in a vibrant show of solidarity.

The park overflowed with energy—people of all ages carried hand-made signs with messages like “Trans Rights Are Human Rights,” “Protect Trans Youth,” and “So Proud of My Awesome Trans Child.” Many participants wore trans flags draped over their shoulders, while others painted their faces in the pastel pink, white, and blue colors of the transgender pride flag.

In recent years, over 500 anti-LGBTQ+ bills have been introduced in state legislatures across the country—many targeting trans youth, gender-affirming healthcare, and public expression. Sunday’s march was as much about joy as it was about defiance.

“This is what community looks like,” said a parent wearing a “Proud Mom” sign while standing beside her transgender child. “We’re not just supporting from the sidelines—we’re marching with them, all the way.”
