Stop Starving Gaza Now Protest Fills Manhattan Streets

New York, NY — August 16, 2025

Thousands marched through Manhattan on Saturday for the Stop Starving Gaza Now protest, demanding an end to U.S. support for Israel and highlighting the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

Demonstrators carried large banners and hand-painted signs with messages such as “No Money for Massacres” and “Stop Arming Israel.” CODEPINK, the women-led anti-war group, held a striking magenta banner featuring the words “STOP ARMING ISRAEL.” Others marched with Palestinian flags, American flags flown upside down, and placards calling to “End All U.S. Aid to Israel.”

The protest brought together a wide coalition of activists, families, and solidarity groups. Members of the New York City Democratic Socialists of America (NYC-DSA) marched at the front with a banner denouncing U.S. military funding. Across the crowd, chants, flags, and signs connected local struggles with international calls for justice in Gaza.

The march moved through city streets under the summer sun, stretching for several blocks and drawing the attention of passersby and onlookers.

The Stop Starving Gaza Now action underscored New York City’s role as a focal point for global solidarity movements, with demonstrators demanding that U.S. resources be redirected away from militarization and toward humanitarian needs.
