Five Boro Bike Tour 2026: Photos from NYC
The TD Five Boro Bike Tour 2026 brought more than 30,000 cyclists across New York City on May 3, transforming streets into a car-free celebration of community, movement, and cycling culture. Riders crossed bridges, neighborhoods, and major roadways while showing the personality and energy that make New York City events so memorable.
More than 30,000 cyclists took over the streets of New York City, turning major roadways into a rare, car-free space built for movement, community, and expression.
Riders moved through all five boroughs, crossing bridges, intersections, and neighborhoods that are normally defined by traffic and congestion. For one day, the city shifted — giving space to cyclists of all ages and backgrounds.
Across the route, riders interacted directly with the moment — pointing at the camera, throwing peace signs, waving, cheering, and celebrating mid-ride. The strongest moments weren’t about performance, but about connection.

Families rode together. Groups moved in tight packs. Individual riders stood out through personality — colorful outfits, cultural flags, and expressive gestures that turned the ride into something more than just a physical challenge.

“New York itself became part of the story — bridges, open streets, and the city’s own infrastructure framing the movement.”

A City Opened Up
New York itself became part of the story. Traffic lights, sanitation trucks, NYPD presence, and the city’s infrastructure framed the movement, while bridges and open streets created a sense of scale that only this event can offer.
The 2026 ride also included a notable moment: New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani completed all 40 miles of the course, becoming the first mayor to do so, alongside city officials including Brad Lander and Jumaane Williams.

Energy, Expression, and 40 Miles of Open Street
The strongest moments weren’t about performance. They were about connection — riders playing to the camera, gesturing to strangers, and carrying the city’s energy with them through every borough.
By the end of the day, the Five Boro Bike Tour reflected New York City at its most open, participatory, and alive.

Community on Wheels
Community groups, charity teams, and first-time riders moved together through streets that are rarely this free. The sense of shared participation — across cultures, ages, and skill levels — defined the 2026 ride as much as the route itself.

Thirty thousand riders. Five boroughs. One city, briefly returned to the people moving through it.
