Queens, NY – The Phagwah Parade 2025 turned the streets of Richmond Hill into a vibrant sea of color as thousands gathered on March 23rd to celebrate Holi, the Hindu festival of spring, unity, and joy.
Led by Grand Marshals Romeo Hitlall and Queens Borough President Donovan Richards Jr., the parade featured traditional dancers, drummers, and floats covered in bright decorations. First Deputy Commissioner Tania I. Kinsella and NYPD officers joined the celebration, embracing the spirit of togetherness.
Participants tossed colored powder into the air, covering the crowd in shades of pink, yellow, and blue, while banners from the Caribbean Equality Project and the Phagwah Social Justice Collective emphasized messages of immigrant rights, LGBTQ+ advocacy, and Indo-Caribbean heritage.
The festival’s joyful energy, music, and dancing carried on throughout the day, reinforcing Phagwah’s message of renewal and unity. As the colors faded, the celebration left behind a powerful reminder of cultural pride and community spirit.
