A Burst of Joy: Holi at Pier 17 Brings Color and Connection to NYC

Participants celebrate Holi at The Seaport in New York City, throwing colorful powder during the Festival of Colors on March 7, 2026 at Pier 17.

As the morning mist lingered over Pier 17, the crowd slowly gathered, colorful powders still tucked away. But once the music kicked in, something magical happened. The first bursts of bright pinks and yellows filled the air, and suddenly, smiles spread like wildfire. Children, parents, and friends alike all joined in, faces streaked with color, laughter echoing across the waterfront. Holi had turned the Seaport into a canvas of joy, and everyone was part of the masterpiece.
The Culture Tree, who organized the event, created an experience that went beyond color. Dancers took the stage with performances that left us in awe, while the aroma of food wafted through the air. From noon onward, people kept arriving, turning the Seaport into a living celebration. And though we all joked about hoping the powder washed out, the memories certainly won’t. With the NYC skyline as a backdrop, the day captured what makes this city so specialβ€”people from all backgrounds, coming together to celebrate culture in one of the greatest cities in the world.
